Silky Oaks Lodge

Situated at the edge of the World Heritage-listed Daintree National Park, Silky Oaks Lodge is Queensland’s most unique rainforest sanctuary.

With walking trails leading from its doorstep into the 1,200 km² rainforest reserve, Silky Oaks Lodge is the perfect base to discover the Daintree’s many attractions. Swim in the pure waters of the Mossman River or search for elusive endangered cassowaries on walks beneath the luxuriant tree canopy. This is a destination of superlatives, with imposing gorges, shimmering waterways and primeval jungle growing right to the edge of deserted sandy coastline.

This highly regarded eco-lodge has spent the past 15 years restoring the area to its original forested state. An onsite waste treatment plant, water purification station and the use of environmentally friendly products throughout the property further add to the Silky Oaks Lodge’s eco-credentials. Guests staying here can rest assured that their Daintree experience will have minimal impact on their surroundings.

The onsite adults-only Healing Waters Spa provides superb natural treatments to the restful sounds of trickling water, while the Treehouse Restaurant delivers standout dishes in a romantic setting amongst the treetops. The adjoining bar and lounge are both casual settings for a beer and snack. When you’re ready for physical exertion, the lodge has river kayaks and mountain bikes. Scheduled yoga classes and guided walks are available on a seasonal basis.

There are plentiful activities farther afield that can be arranged (at extra cost). Sail out to the Great Barrier Reef for unparalleled diving or snorkelling, look for saltwater crocodiles on a thrilling boat safari or travel along the 4WD-only Bloomfield Track in search of secret swimming holes. Quad biking, zip-lining, fishing charters and hot air ballooning can also be arranged.

The lodge welcomes children 10 years and older.
