Overview – Calabash Bay Lodge

Experience luxury waterfront living at Calabash Bay Lodge, a unique and exclusive Hawkesbury River retreat accessible only by boat.

Ever wondered what it would be like to live in a stunning contemporary property with gleaming waters lapping at your own private jetty? Well, Calabash Bay Lodge offers you the opportunity without the multi-million dollar price tag. This self-catering Central Coast four-bedroom holiday home can only be booked for exclusive use, and contains everything you need for a glamorous Australian riverside escape from fishing rods to kayaks. There’s even a runabout boat at your disposal so you can explore your surroundings at leisure or pick up eggs and milk from nearby Berowra Waters! Best of all, it’s only 45 minutes north of Sydney CBD.

Every beautifully appointed bedroom in the house has a balcony with water views, with two boasting their own modern ensuite bathrooms. The owner has thought of everything – there are luxury bath amenities provided, along with sparkling wine on arrival, bottled water, espresso coffee capsules and loose-leaf teas.

Of course, the basics are top quality as well; expect 100% Australian wool bedding, 500 thread-count organic cotton bed linen, free high-speed Wi-Fi, a wireless speaker system and a cutting-edge entertainment setup. There’s also an entertainer’s kitchen complete with double oven and dishwasher, laundry facilities, and plenty of comfortably furnished areas to curl up with a book or to soak up the sun.

Additional extras that can be arranged during your stay include spa treatments, gourmet catering, a private chef and babysitter. Guests are usually met at Berowra Waters public wharf for a 10-minute complimentary water taxi transfer to the lodge, but a seaplane flight from Rose Bay or Palm Beach can also be organised (additional cost).

Encircled by pristine native bushland and hemmed in by the Hawkesbury River, Calabash Bay Lodge provides plenty of opportunities for recreational fishing, revitalising bushwalks and relaxation in really swish surroundings. Look for kingfishers and kookaburras while paddling downriver – kayaks are provided for use during your stay. Alternatively, recline with the latest magazines from the library in your Brazilian hammock. Later, fire up the Weber Q barbecue on the expansive sundeck to grill your daily catch. On chilly nights, enjoy a blazing fire while you play Pictionary with the family.
