Chateau Yering Hotel

An elegant, historic homestead reborn as sumptuous five-star boutique accommodation, Chateau Yering Hotel is a unique and charming place to commence your Yarra Valley explorations.

The mansion in which Chateau Yering Hotel is located was built in 1854 with hand-made bricks, expensive hardwoods and costly marble. The epicentre of high society, it played host to grand parties attended by many Melbourne socialites. Although some modern updates were made over the decades, much of the original house survives, with the Library, Chinese Room and Lounge substantially unchanged since construction. Handsome paintings, ornate old-fashioned light fittings and period furniture were also added to the interiors to maintain the property’s romantic old-world character.

There are 32 suites at Chateau Yering Hotel, all spacious and elegantly furnished with plush fabrics and antiques. Named for their outlook or location, the suites are completely individual in decoration; some feature lovely four-poster beds, while others have wrought iron open fireplaces or a claw-footed bath. All enjoy the luxury of a private ensuite bathroom, as well as a balcony or veranda with views over the 250 beautifully landscaped acres that encircle the building. There is an outdoor swimming pool on the grounds, as well as a tennis court and croquet lawn. Indoors, you’ll find cosy guest lounges with log fires and a library with plenty of reading material and board games.

The award-winning Eleonore’s Restaurant is a fine dining establishment that showcases the Yarra Valley’s best seasonal produce, while the Sweetwater Café provides breakfast each morning and traditional high tea on Saturdays and Sundays, comprised of delicate sandwiches, savouries, cakes and scones served with tea, coffee or a glass of sparkling wine. There are plenty of wineries at your doorstep, as well as popular attractions such as the educational Healesville Sanctuary, the heritage Puffing Billy Railway and the peaceful bush trails of the Dandenong Ranges.
