Overview – Edenhouse

An idyllic luxury lodge nestled in a serene valley outside the compact fishing port town of Nelson, Edenhouse is the perfect base to explore the nearby Abel Tasman National Park, sundrenched beaches, wild mountains and award-winning vineyards around Tasman Bay.

A gracious boutique residence occupying 48 acres of private grounds, the luxurious Edenhouse is an enchanting rural retreat surrounded by manicured gardens. Nelson, renowned as the sunniest city in New Zealand and South Island’s cultural heartland, is just 40 minutes south-east south by road from this property. Stunning Abel Tasman National Park, a mosaic of rock pools and waterfalls with large resident colonies of fur seals is an easy 30 minutes’ drive north.

Accommodation at Edenhouse comprises of just two exquisite suites in the main lodge, and a very private standalone cottage. All guests can enjoy the lodge’s sitting room, formal dining room, artist studio, cosy den and library. Multiple courtyards provide cool, breezy spaces to eat, drink or simply relax on sunny days while open fireplaces throughout the lodge provide welcome warmth in colder months. Spend time on the grounds observing the prolific native birdlife, enjoying relaxed farm walks or savouring delicious breakfasts and delectable dinners prepared by the team at Edenhouse. Alternatively, get to know charming Chilli, the property’s canine Guest Liaison Officer, or unwind with a massage or beauty treatment performed by an in-house therapist.

Activities around Edenhouse include wine tours – there are 37 boutique wineries in the surrounding area, including Kina Beach and Neudorf. Between Nelson and the lodge, you’ll find a range of diverse art galleries and artisan workshops, such as The World of Wearable Art and the Michael MacMillan Gallery. Of course, Abel Tasman National Park is a must-see, and there are multiple ways to explore the reserve from scenic flights, cruises and guided hikes to canyoning and kayaking.
