Overview – Woodman Estate
Distinctive for its rural grandeur and traditional English gardens, Woodman Estate is also renowned for gracious rural hospitality.
Set upon a 50-acre patchwork of cultivated meadows, manicured box hedges and sweeping lawns, the landmark Woodman Estate is a favourite with both visitors to the Mornington Peninsula, as well as local residents. The heritage manor house and its outlying buildings are elegant, with period features such as ornate cornices, elaborate chandeliers and timber wall panelling. Accommodation is in rooms and suites within the main lodge, as well as in secluded chalets located right at the edge of the peaceful private lake.
Guest chambers boast generous beds, overstuffed armchairs and large sash windows with sweeping views of their picturesque surroundings. When you aren’t stretched out in your pretty guestroom, there are plenty of comfortable lounge areas scattered throughout the property, from cosy parlours warmed by open wood fires to shaded patios by the water. The onsite Spa Retreat offers a decadent range of relaxing treatments from facials to massages, while there is a smorgasbord of dining options that showcase the Mornington Peninsula’s excellent produce and acclaimed wines.
Enjoy a hearty country breakfast at Woodmans, on the restaurant’s scenic lakefront terrace or have your morning meal delivered to your suite. This establishment features seasonal ingredients and regional wines on its menu along with five-star service. Traditional high tea is held on Sunday afternoons in the bright atrium, brasserie and formal dining room, with mouth-watering sweets and savouries delivered on a classic three-tiered stand. Sip fine beverages and sample signature items such as homemade scones, with everything delicately plated on fine china and set on starched white linen tablecloths.
For recreation, Woodman Estate has an array of complimentary facilities including a tennis court, billiards table and rowboat. There are also golf courses in the vicinity, as well as places where guests can go fly-fishing or sailing. If you are self-driving, why not follow the many food and wine trails that thread the Mornington Peninsula? The region’s famous thermal springs are a mere 35 minutes’ away, where you can soak away any muscular aches and pains.
