Blue Mountains & Hunter Valley

Explore the rocky Blue Mountains and the vineyards of the Hunter Valley

Peaceful scenery and proximity to Sydney are about all the Blue Mountains and Hunter Valley regions have in common. Both regions are amazing destinations in their own right and complement each other for a comprehensive New South Wales itinerary. The rocky escarpments of the Blue Mountains are breathtaking while the gentle rolling hills and vineyards of the Hunter Valley offer a chance to enjoy some of the state’s best food and wine.

The Hunter Valley is synonymous with fine food and wine, as well as a standout golf and spa destination. There are over 150 wineries here, with Semillons, chardonnays and shirazes being of particular note. Inspired by the quality of the fertile region’s produce, many top chefs have made the Hunter Valley home and as a result, there are a huge number of fabulous restaurants and first-rate cooking schools.

A holiday to the Blue Mountains and Hunter Valley can be easily combined, or independently incorporated into any Australian holiday itinerary.

Learn about aboriginal culture and discover cave paintings or explore the colossal Jenolan Caves, go fruit-picking and have afternoon tea in an attractive rural town such as Leura, Lithgow or Blackheath. For the adventurous, rock-climbing and abseiling tours are also possible whilst bush walks offer a chance to see some of Australia’s iconic wildlife.

Enjoy a wine-tasting tour through the Hunter Valley or broaden your culinary horizons with a cooking master class. For exercise, tee off at the newest Championship golf course, the Jack Newton-designed Par 72 Stonebridge Golf Course, or take to the network of walking and cycling tracks through Barrington Tops National Park.
