Capella Lodge

Overlooking the azure Pacific Ocean and tiny Lovers Beach is Capella Lodge, a stylish luxury retreat on stunning Lord Howe Island.

The only hotel south of the island’s airport, Capella Lodge has majestic views of the forested slopes and soaring peaks of Mount Lidgbird and Mount Gower. This gorgeous boutique property offers contemporary architectural design and chic interiors combined with relaxed hospitality and a breezy, beachy informality.

Lord Howe Island itself is a magical destination which affords every opportunity for wondrous outdoor adventures. This sickle-shaped volcanic island is an Eden of dense forests, mountain peaks, unspoilt beaches, exotic flora and fauna, encircled by the world’s southernmost coral reef. Visitors can roam the island by bicycle or on foot, stopping along the coast to swim or snorkel amongst sea turtles and hundreds of rainbow-hued fish. The lonesome 562-metre craggy monolith known as Ball’s Pyramid, can be seen from the air as you approach the island, or visited on a day trip by boat.

Capella Lodge has just 9 suites, ensuring an intimate and personalised experience in an idyllic setting. There are single-level and loft suites, each with king or twin beds, fine linen, ensuite bathrooms and private verandas or balconies. There is also a sumptuous 125m² pavilion with its own private entry.

The lodge has sublime vistas of the island’s two highest mountains as well as the turquoise lagoon it faces. The airy, open plan bar, restaurant and lounge have floor to ceiling windows to bring the outside in and serve only the finest and freshest produce from Lord Howe Island and New South Wales. Breakfast, dinner and sundowner drinks are included. When not out exploring, guests can curl up on the terrace with a book, swim in the pool or savour a drink as the sun sets over the sea.
