Davidson Arnhem Land
Safari Eco Lodge

Experience the primordial wilderness that surrounds you at Davidson’s Arnhem Land Safaris Eco Lodge

This unique eco-lodge is located in the remote, exclusively leased concession at Mt Borradaile in Arnhem Land. A vast, unspoilt region, the traditional owners – the Yolngu – still retain a strong spiritual connection to the land. In addition to providing valuable income for the local indigenous community, Davidson’s Arnhem Land Safaris Eco Lodge also provides a low-impact way for visitors to learn about the cultural and natural significance of the region, which in turn fosters the desire to protect the environment for future generations.

Accommodation here is in elevated, free-standing ensuite cabins scattered beneath the trees, each with their own small private furnished patio from where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the bush. There is Wi-Fi connectivity for convenience, but you’ll probably spend most of your time here outdoors, looking for crocodiles in the wetlands or soaking up sunsets on relaxing billabong cruises. Inspect fascinating age-old Aboriginal rock art galleries containing iconic hand stencils, drawings of the rainbow serpent as well as depictions of early contact with European explorers. Walking and 4WD guided tours of the surrounding rainforest and savannah woodland uncover bush tucker and plenty of interesting flora and fauna.

Your itinerary at the lodge is at your own pace – you can choose to take in a lot or nothing at all. Avid bird-watchers might opt to spend their days by the area’s many watercourses observing the multitude of avian species, while angling enthusiasts may spend hours knee-deep in the barramundi-rich waters of Cooper Creek. When you aren’t out and about, the lodge has a lounge, bar, library, outdoor pool and spacious sun deck where you can meet other guests and swap stories of your adventures. The dining room might be many miles from civilisation but the meals you savour here will be something to write home about.
