Itinerary
Days 1-3
Daintree Ecolodge
On arrival at Cairns Airport you will be met and transferred to the beautiful Daintree National Park (1h 45m drive), staying at the exclusive Daintree Ecolodge. Situated in the heart of the rainforest, the lodge is ideally located for exploring the region or just relaxing to the soundtrack of the bush. The 15 cosy treehouse-style rooms are nestled amongst the tree canopy and provide the perfect rainforest hideaway. Included in your stay is a guided rainforest walk, a river cruise on the magnificent Daintree River and a cocktail class.
Guided Rainforest Walk
Explore the beauty of the Daintree on a guided rainforest walk (1.5 hours) and discover the lodge’s private onsite waterfall – sacred to the local Kuku Yalanji women. Strolling through the undergrowth, learn about the wonderful and unique plants, insects, birds and other wildlife that call the rainforest home.
Daintree River Cruise
Winding its way through the ancient rainforest the Daintree River is a densely populated mangrove estuary. Mangrove estuaries play a vital role in river ecology and are a key habitat to an abundance of wildlife. The Daintree River is no exception, home to a healthy population of crocodiles as well as an amazing array of birdlife, tree snakes, frogs and some impressive spiders. Enjoy a morning or afternoon cruise on the river accompanied by expert guides who will help spot wildlife, provide insightful comments and answer any questions you may have.
Cocktail Botanist Class
Join the bar staff for an hour-long cocktail class and learn how to make some delicious cocktails using unique native ingredients. Twist, shake and consume three delightfully refreshing cocktails whilst having some fun and developing some traditional (and new) bartending skills.
Alternatively you can also discover the Great Barrier Reef on a snorkelling and scuba diving excursion or take to the skies in a helicopter for a birds-eye view of the reef (both at extra cost).

Mount Mulligan Lodge
Transfer into the outback today by road (3 hours) to luxurious Mount Mulligan Lodge. The lodge is set on a private 28,000-hectare heritage site and is also a working cattle station. Accommodating just 20 guests the lodge offers an exclusive and personalised encounter with back-country Far North Queensland. This multi-award-winning retreat was designed to harmonise with the natural surroundings and history of the area. There are just 6, spacious suites decorated in earthy hues whilst the main pavilion houses the restaurant, bar and sitting area overlooking the sparkling infinity pool.
A wide-range of activities are available including All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) tours, bush walks, fishing, paddle-boarding, kayaking and picnics. As the property is a working cattle station, guests can also try their hand at cattle mustering (specific dates contact us for details). Guests can also tour historic Mount Mulligan Township and coal mine – now an abandoned ghost town – or a 4WD safari of Tyconnell Gold Mine.
At the end of the day, guests can head over for a relaxing drink at the Sunset Bar. Just a short walk (or shorter buggy ride) from the lodge, guests can meet fellow travellers as they take in a magical outback sunset. As the sun disappears the night sky comes alive – there’s no better place to stargaze than the remote outback.
There are also a number of other activities available (at an additional cost) including scenic helicopter flights, outback trail adventures and a tour to the wonderful Chillagoe region.
