Orpheus Island comprises 1,000 hectares of national park fringed by white sand beaches and pristine reefs. The lodge is the only resort on the island and is reached via a 30-minute helicopter flight from Townsville. Secluded in the heart of this tropical paradise, Orpheus Island Lodge accommodates just 28 people in 14 rooms, suites and villas, ensuring a boutique island experience. The main pavilion features a restaurant, alfresco dining, bar, reading room, day spa, and a 25m x 13m infinity pool mirroring the turquoise Coral Sea.

The lodge’s is committed to sustainability, primarily using solar-power and solar hot water for guest accommodation, reducing single use plastics, using recycled water for gardens and making use of locally-sourced produce whenever possible.

Each guest suite embraces the natural environment with light, contemporary decor and sea views, just a short step away from the beachfront. All suites have king (or twin) beds, air-conditioning, luxury ensuite bathroom, private patio, Bose sound system, LED TV with free-to-air satellite, mini bar, and other touches to make your suite feel like home. Larger suites or villas with sitting rooms or two bedrooms are perfect for small groups or families.

All stays at Orpheus include three gourmet meals prepared daily by chef Paul Wilson and his team, unlimited Australian beer and wine as well as soft beverages, and a daily Orpheus experience. Guests have unlimited use of motorised dinghies, paddle boards, kayaks and catamarans, fishing and snorkelling gear.

Lucky guests to Orpheus Island have access to the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. The principal dive sites boast 1,100 of the 1,500 species of fish on the reef. There is excellent snorkelling right on the doorstep including a crop of giant clams and some of the most colourful coral outcrops (bommies) on the entire reef.

Access to Orpheus is via a 30-minute helicopter journey from Townsville. Passengers are restricted to one small soft duffle bag of a maximum weight of 15kgs. Extra luggage can be safely stored until your return to Townsville. There are duffle bags available to borrow if required. The daily scheduled flights are subject to availability and payload restrictions.
