Three times the size of England, the Kimberley is a vast, chiefly arid savannah landscape punctuated by distinctive boab trees, cleaved by deep sandstone ravines and pristine waterways. The lodge is perched along the steep sides of the Chamberlain River, the luxurious and isolated El Questro Homestead consists of ten thoughtfully appointed rooms and suites, a swimming pool and tennis court, surrounded by a 700,000 acres of mostly untouched wilderness. The nearest major settlement – Kununurra – is 110km to the west.
Guests begin their day with a hearty breakfast on the El Questro Homestead veranda. The variety and freshness of the food makes it easy to forget that you are miles from the nearest town. Lunch and dinner are convivial occasions; a long table is set up at midday for guests and guides to go over the morning’s adventures in the shade, whilst the three-course evening meal begins at the bar. Guests can also choose to dine privately in a host of locations across the property. Sourdough bread is baked fresh daily, while tropical fruit is sourced from the lush Ord Valley hours away.
A typical day exploring the astounding wilderness may include an early morning cruise along the Chamberlain River or a birdwatching tour. After a delightful lunch, guests can take to the river in a motorised dinghy or refresh with a swim in the waterfalls and thermal pools of Zebedee Springs. Other activities available include a Bush Culture, History & Nature Tour, a sunset tour to Buddy’s Point or guided walks to some of the most spectacular gores in the Kimberley. The lodge also offers a number of exciting helicopter tours (additional cost) to some of the Kimberley’s most breathtaking geological areas including Mitchell Falls and the Bungle Bungles. A visit to the well-hidden Miri Miri Falls – accessible only by helicopter – is highly recommended.
Retire at night to the comfort of your air-conditioned, timber and tile-floored accommodations. All rooms have an adjoining bathroom with premium Aesop bath products, and a Bose sound system. Guests help themselves to a free open bar (cellar list excluded) and complimentary Wi-Fi is only available in public areas.

The best (and quickest) way to get to El Questro Homestead is by a scenic helicopter or light aircraft transfer. These flights can be arranged upon request. Alternatively, there are regular flights from Darwin, Perth and Broome to Kununurra. This frontier town is 110km from El Questro Homestead. The property offers twice-daily scheduled transfers from the airport.
