Tasmania’s natural beauty is captivating and its cultural experiences are diverse

Starting as a penal colony in the early 19th century, the city now features beautifully preserved Georgian, Edwardian and Victorian buildings. The city’s waterfront holds a number of interesting sights including Salamanca Market, Mawson’s Huts Replica Museum and the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. Undoubtedly a must visit, 12 kilometres from the waterfront is MONA – the Museum of Old and New Art. Overlooking the city is pristine Mount Wellington. Visitors are rewarded with mesmerising views over the city from the lookout point. 

Just 90 minutes drive from the city, the old convict settlement of Port Arthur is one of the islands top sights. There are a number of historic sites to see as well as the nearby Remarkable Cave. Bruny Island, 90 minutes directly south by car and ferry is another popular region to visit. The island is renowned for its scenic beauty and gourmet food and drink including wine, cheese and oysters. 

The jewel of Tasmania’s wild east coast, Freycinet Peninsula is filled with stunning natural wonders including dramatic granite cliffs, pristine beaches and quiet bays. There are countless nature-based activities on offer such as stunning walking trails, sea-kayaking, quad biking and scenic flights over the remarkable Hazards Mountains.
