Daintree Eco Lodge

Hidden in the heart of the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest, this boutique eco lodge is the perfect place to rediscover the healing power of nature.

Situated on the southern shore of the Daintree River, the lodge is just 90 minutes’ drive north of Cairns, following the spectacular coast road via Port Douglas and Mossman. Both sustainable and beautiful, this tranquil retreat features 15 eco-friendly ‘banyans’ or tree houses, secluded in the rainforest canopy. The main lodge, with bar, restaurant and outdoor dining area, overlooks a small lagoon. Guests can cool off in the shaded swimming pool or at a nearby onsite waterfall and swimming hole. There are 5 Lagoon Banyans decorated in muted colours with floor to ceiling glass screens and a screened private balcony. The Canopy Banyans are treehouses with spacious bedrooms and a screened balcony with a daybed, and are accessed via stairs.

The Rainforest Banyans are perfect for those looking for a romantic escape, and feature a freestanding black bathtub on a private enclosed balcony. All the banyans measure 46sqm, have a king bed and rollaway (available for an additional guest), ensuite bathroom and private balcony. Nature is the hero here, so there is no TV or Wi-Fi in the rooms.

An a-la-carte Breakfast (included) and dinner is served in the Julaymba Restaurant by the lagoon. A team of chefs prepare the finest cuisine featuring wonderful home grown and locally sourced produce. Dinner is also available to members of the public as well as guests, so booking is advisable.

Daintree Ecolodge takes conservation seriously, making use of solar panels, biocycle waste water treatment, toxic free cleaning, an on-site herb and veggie patch, composting organic kitchen waste and minimising plastic and single use packaging, along with other environmentally sustainable practices. A donation of $50 is made for each guest stay towards the Reef Keepers Fund supporting the Great Barrier Reef.

Wander the forest paths beneath majestic Bull Kauri trees, cool off beneath the private waterfall or explore this World Heritage area with your own car or on private, guided excursions. This is a unique and precious landscape, where ancient rainforest and cool mountain streams, meet a tropical coastline of white sand beaches, mangroves and coral reefs. Take an exciting crocodile cruise on the Daintree River, or a morning or sunset wildlife excursion looking out for colourful birds, water dragons and other creatures on the river bank. Watch for the large, flightless Cassowary birds as you travel north to Cape Tribulation, where two World Heritage Areas meet. Take a trip by boat or helicopter out to the famous Great Barrier Reef for a day of snorkelling or diving. Visit the stunning Mossman Gorge and gain an insight the culture of the local Kuku Yalanji people, who have lived here for thousands of years.

After a day of adventure relax and rejuvenate in the Daintree Wellness Spa where water is harnessed from the onsite waterfall and treatments are inspired by local traditions and use sustainably wild-harvested, pure Australian botanicals and organic ingredients.
